The competition was the climax to weeks of competition involving more than 1,130 teams from the United States and six other nations: Brazil, Canada, Ecuador, Israel, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. Winnovation was a finalist in the Galileo Division at the championship. The competition aired on the NASA channel and also received some coverage from CNN. The FMA Foundation, FMA’s charitable foundation, awarded Winnovation a $3,000 grant to help the team compete at the FIRST Robotics Competition. The mission of the Foundation is to serve as a charitable organization specifically to provide funding for training, grants, scholarships, research, and publishing information relating to the sector of the manufacturing community which utilizes metal forming, fabricating, and product assembly.
