Winnebago, Ill. – Winnovation, a high school robotics team from Winnebago, Ill., participated in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Championship at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta last weekend. The competition was the climax to weeks of competition involving more than 1,130 teams from the United States and six other nations: Brazil, Canada, Ecuador, Israel, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.

Winnovation was a finalist in the Galileo Division at the championship. The competition aired on the NASA channel and also received some coverage from CNN.

The FMA Foundation, FMA’s charitable foundation, awarded Winnovation a $3,000 grant to help the team compete at the FIRST Robotics Competition.

The mission of the Foundation is to serve as a charitable organization specifically to provide funding for training, grants, scholarships, research, and publishing information relating to the sector of the manufacturing community which utilizes metal forming, fabricating, and product assembly.
