Thank you to everyone who played in the 5th Annual GOLF4MFG® on Monday, Aug. 21 at Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton, Ill. Due to the generous company sponsorships and donations from the field of 100+ players, Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs® (NBT) will be able to award additional scholarships and grants for summer manufacturing camps in 2018.

Players enjoyed a great day of golf, camaraderie, networking–and even watched a solar eclipse! The day began with several skill contests including the mini-putt style putting challenge which proved to be a bit trickier than it looked. Rick Blesi, Scranton Gillette Communications, figured it out and sank three holes in four putts for the win. Elizabeth Victor, LVD Strippit, strategically placed her ball in the baby pool 30 yards out on the driving range as the only winner of the Splash for Cash contest.

Ed Youdell, President & CEO of FMA and NBT, decked out in “old school” attire, was waiting on Lakeside hole #8 to meet each of the golfers. Players could challenge Ed in a closest to the pin competition. The big winner of the contest was Steve Earley, CNA who took home a new TaylorMade putter .

The early evening reception set the stage for networking, relaxing, and some bragging rights as players were awarded their contest prizes. The longest putt trophy and gift card was awarded to Mark Elliott, WIPFLI, the straightest drive went to Steve Dobos, Butler Weldments, Calvin Hahn, HK & Laser Systems, had the longest drive, and Rick Blesi of SGC got closest to the pin on Lakeside hole #4.

Team Mitsubishi Laser came in first place with a winning score of 62. Team members were Pat Simon, Mitsubishi Laser, Keri Foster & Mike Leali of Laser Technologies Inc., and Jim Grasse of Advanced Fabricating Machinery. Way to go team!

It was raffle prize galore as red and white tickets were called out for the winners. A baseball signed by CUBS Wade Davis, Blackhawks Marian Hossa puck, Wolves hockey tickets and sweater, golf shirts, spikes, gloves, a $250 gift certificate, and more!

Here’s what the players said about the 2017 event —

“GOLF4MFG is a great event that not only gives students a promising and fulfilling career path, but also supports the future of manufacturing. What a great combination!”, Brett Lundstrom, Lundstrom Insurance Agency, Inc. – President

“It was a great way to network and support a charity that will introduce the importance of metal work and manufacturing to the next generation of entrepreneurs.”, Tim Corley, Lissmac – Director of Sales

Many thanks to all the sponsors: Mitsubishi Laser, Turner Construction, CNA, FREEMAN Co., HK Laser & Systems, LISSMAC Corporation, LoSasso Integrated Marketing, and Lundstrom Insurance. Hats off to Turner Construction who hosted a foursome of U.S. Veterans with their Diamond sponsorship.
