Safety Harbor, Fla. Manufacturer Donates Funds to Support Summer
Manufacturing Camps from its Annual 5k Run, Walk, Paddle Event

In a presentation made this week at Mastercut Tool in Safety Harbor, Fla., Ed Youdell, the president & CEO of Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs® (NBT), the foundation of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, Intl.®, received a check for $6,000 from the president & CEO of Mastercut Tool, Michael Shaluly.  This represented the second annual donation to NBT resulting from the annual 5k Run, Walk, Paddle fundraiser organized by Mastercut Tool and the Shaluly Foundation. Funds were also donated to three additional organizations supporting manufacturing education.

“We are very appreciative of the support our foundation has received over the past two years from this event. Mr. Shaluly, his company, and his foundation recognize the importance of introducing young people to the technology and careers of manufacturing. It is an honor to know that he believes the summer manufacturing camps that NBT supports across the country are a successful way to achieve this goal”, said Youdell.  “Through the recognition received because of this support, the number of camp applications NBT is able to fund in Florida has grown significantly as well.” Read more about Mr. Shaluly and how this annual fundraising event was developed.

The manufacturing camp grants program of NBT began in 2004 and, to date, has supported the creation of 260 camps in 33 states, which have motivated more than 4,700 young people between the ages of 11 and 16 to explore manufacturing technology and consider pursuing manufacturing careers. In addition to the summer manufacturing camp program, NBT provides scholarships to post-secondary students who are pursuing studies leading to careers in manufacturing.

The Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA) is a professional organization with more than 2,500 members working together to improve the metal processing, forming, and fabricating industry. Its charitable foundation, Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs (NBT), exists to engage, nurture and inspire individuals of all ages in the pursuit of careers in manufacturing.
