The first annual GOLF4MFG® South, held on Monday, April 26 at Ballantyne Country Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, exceeded all expectations! A new and enthusiastic crowd of golfers came together for a day of beautiful weather, much-needed mingling, and friendly competition while supporting Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs® (NBT). The inaugural fundraising event raised over $23,000 to directly impact NBT’s summer manufacturing camp and scholarship programs.

Winning Foursome

A total of 46 golfers from nine states enjoyed the camaraderie and rare opportunity to meet with friends and colleagues at the in-person event. The winning foursome, all from Georgia Trade School, included Andy Johnson; Connor Johnson; Jackson Buchanan; and Eric Pangle. Andy Johnson also won the longest putt contest, and Jackson Buchanan had the longest drive. Franklin Cox, Southern Fabricators, had the straightest drive, and Pat Simon, FMA, won closest to the pin.

The silent auction featured 26 items including two unique Elvis-inspired metal clocks donated by the NBT camps held at Itawamba Community College in Tupelo, Mississippi, various sports memorabilia, and other specialty and gift items. GOLF4MFG South Auction Table

Gina Black, NBT board member and director of Workforce for the Community Development Foundation Tupelo, spoke to the audience about her experience hosting the Tek2Go Summer Manufacturing Camps at Itawamba Community College (ICC). “The Tek2Go Camps create awareness of manufacturing programs at ICC and introduce students to career opportunities in their hometown or community,” said Black. “Also, the Tek2Go Camps for Teachers have been extremely successful in providing technical instructors with the knowledge and skills training needed to prepare the next generation workforce.”

If you weren’t able to attend GOLF4MFG South this year, you can still help NBT advance its mission by getting involved or donating. And don’t forget to mark your calendar for GOLF4MFG, aka “NBT Classic” on Monday, August 9, 2021, at Arrowhead Golf Club in Wheaton (Chicago), Illinois!
