A Look Back at GOLF4MFG Through the Years

GOLF4MFG® is NBT’s flagship golf event held every year in the Chicagoland area where attendees get to live out their PGA Championship dreams while supporting NBT’s impactful summer manufacturing camp and scholarship programs.

As GOLF4MFG enters its ninth year, NBT’s staff have been reminiscing about all the memories made over the years. Here is a fun look back on how the golf outing started and how the event has grown over the years to support the future of manufacturing one round of golf at a time.

In 2013, the first GOLF4MFG event was created to spread awareness of NBT’s mission, to feature scholarship winners and camp participants, and to raise funds so the foundation could award more scholarships and distribute more camp grants.

The annual golf outing has been a win for attendees too! Year after year, GOLF4MFG continues to bring professionals in the metals manufacturing industry together to socialize, network, and enjoy a day of friendly competition.

Drive Through Memory Lane

GOLF4MFG Air Cannon2016 — Fun was had by all when NBT broke out a golf ball air cannon. Golfers who used the air cannon enjoyed a literal long shot as the ball traveled much further than a golfer could hit it, giving them a big advantage during the tournament.

2017 — Is that a golf ball in the sky? No! It was the solar eclipse of August 21, 2017, dubbed the “Great American Eclipse” by the media. It was a total solar eclipse visible within a band that spanned from the Pacific to the Atlantic GOLF4MFG Solar Eclipsecoasts.

2018 — Sam Breese, a recent NBT scholarship winner, addressed the audience explaining his passion for pursuing a career in manufacturing and how the scholarship funds helped get him closer to those goals.

GOLF4MFG Sam Breese2019 — NBT was honored to host a game of five-some golf that included four veterans invited by Turner.

2020 — Even the COVID-19 pandemic couldn’t stop NBT supporters! Come rain or shine, in this case rainy and chilly, our golfers came through to weather the storm, show off their golf swings, and support a great cause.GOLF4MFG Rain Storm
