GOLF4MFG RESULTS IN MORE SCHOLARSHIPS & SUMMER CAMP GRANTS FOR MANUFACTURING STUDENTS

88 golfers gathered to play one of their favorite games on a gorgeous day for the Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs’ (NBT) fourth annual GOLF4MFG at Cantigny Golf Course in Wheaton, Ill. The generosity of the players and sponsors allows NBT to continue the mission of awarding more scholarships and summer manufacturing grants. Thank you all for the part you played to help close the skilled labor gap.

Before the outing on Aug. 22 participants were able to tour Clipper Industries Inc. in Itasca, Ill. They saw technology in action including laser, punch, and plasma cutting; precision forming; machining; as well as robotic welding. NBT appreciates the open door and hospitality from Clipper Industries.

New games were introduced at GOLF4MFG 2016. Contestants were invited to play SPLASH 4 CASH on the Driving Range. Seems like an easy shot to hit a baby pool at 49 yards out? It proved to be a bit tricky for 21 golfers to forget about avoiding the water hazard.

The on-site golf professional was waiting on Lakeside Hole #4 to take on the generous folks of GOLF4MFG 2016. Golfers were asked if they wanted to BEAT THE PRO on a difficult par 3. Eight players came up victorious and went home with a prize!

Cocktails, appetizers, and dinner followed, along with a short award presentation. The first place foursome won on a scorecard playoff with nine under par. Rick Schwer, Dave Schwer, Rick Blesi, and John Fitzgerald hold this title for two of the four NBT GOLF4MFG events.

Contest winners included:
Closest to the Pin – Mark Mathiowdis (men), Sarah Richards (women)

Thank you to the GOLF4MFG charitable sponsors! Mitsubishi Laser and Turner Construction sponsored the event at the Diamond Level, supplying golf shirts, umbrellas, and golf balls to the participants. Gold Level sponsor was CNA, who was recognized for their generous $15,000 donation to the foundation. Silver sponsors were TRUMPF, FREEMAN, and Exact JobBOSS. Bystronic sponsored the Cocktail Reception. Another $5,000 big check was awarded to NBT by Production Tube Cutting.

Thank you to everyone that brought their skills and made this year’s event possible with donations and sponsorships, NBT couldn’t support the future of manufacturing without you.
