Fall is in the air, which normally means the Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs® (NBT) summer manufacturing camp season has come to an end. If you’ve been following NBT, however, you may already know that this year’s manufacturing camp season has been unlike any other.

This Labor Day, Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs® (NBT) takes a stand for manufacturing. We salute the hard-working individuals who keep their businesses open for daily operations across America. We salute the workers who stepped up to manufacture ventilators, face shields, and mobile hospitals needed to overcome the coronavirus pandemic.
Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs® (NBT) is proud to award scholarships to 35 students pursuing a degree in the manufacturing field. Awards valued at $1,500 each will be used to defray costs for tuition, books, and school fees during the fall 2020 semester.
COVID-19 threatens to cancel or postpone summer manufacturing camps across the U.S., and as a result, a few innovative Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs® (NBT) camp hosts are taking a different approach. They’re providing virtual camps to temporarily replace the traditional hands-on experience and the feedback is positive!
The Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs® (NBT) silent auction donations at the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International®, (FMA) Annual Meeting lit up the room at the Hyatt Regency in San Antonio. Hundreds of FMA members and industry colleagues gathered at the welcome reception to kick off the 2020 FMA conference on March 3.
Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs® (NBT) appreciates that school districts and educational institutions across the country are taking precautionary measures to address COVID-19 concerns. As NBT’s top priority is to provide healthy and safe learning environments for middle and high school students, we are closely monitoring the situation as it pertains to NBT Summer Manufacturing Camps.
“My most powerful experience in manufacturing and engineering was with a group of 12-year-old girls …. It was at an NBT camp that as a young student I learned to use hand tools, drill presses, 3D printers, and my imagination to turn raw, recyclable materials into useful and functioning contraptions.
Part 2 of a 2-part series: Manufacturing students applied for the NBT Travel Award to attend FABTECH 2019 as one of the benefits after receiving NBT scholarships. They had the opportunity to see today’s advanced technologies in action at the trade show, November 11-14 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
Fourteen manufacturing students were awarded scholarships from Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs® (NBT), the foundation of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International® (FMA). These bright-minded, career-focused individuals are taking the next steps to join the skilled labor workforce. In as little as six months to two years, they will be able to take on the challenges and keep pace by helping the manufacturing sector thrive.
