Interest in manufacturing careers continues to be on the rise as the Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs® Foundation (NBT) reports receiving more than 480 new applications for scholarship opportunities in 2022. Twice each year, the scholarship program provides awards up to $3,500 for students pursuing degrees, certifications, or skills training that will lead to manufacturing careers.

Hosted at community colleges, technical schools, and high schools across the country, NBT manufacturing camps engage, inspire, and spark an interest in students ages 12 to 16 to pursue manufacturing careers.
Events create expansion opportunity for labor market
ELGIN, Ill. – A new program opened new opportunities this summer as young adults with disabilities joined manufacturing camps across the Midwest. Hosted by Nuts, Bolts, & Thingamajigs (NBT), the foundation of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA), two Inclusion Manufacturing Camps were launched aimed at showing local employers that this group of individuals is a viable option to meet their workforce demands.
For over 15 years, NBT’s summer manufacturing camp program has offered unique opportunities for youth ages 12 to 16 to explore the world of manufacturing through hands-on learning experiences at locations throughout the country. Participants discover a passion for working with their hands while learning about manufacturing careers in areas such as welding, robotics, engineering, 3D printing, CNC machining, and many more.
Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs® (NBT), the foundation of FMA, is proud to announce it has been awarded new grant funding through Pennsylvania’s Manufacturing PA Training-to-Career Program (MTTC) to support Summer Manufacturing Camps throughout Pennsylvania. The MTTC grant will be used to support six Summer Manufacturing Camps throughout Pennsylvania in 2022 and 12 camps in 2023.
NBT is thrilled to share that Nestlé USA, in support of its commitment to empower and prepare the next generation to thrive and make their impact, will be the national sponsor of all 2022 NBT summer manufacturing camps, including the new inclusion camps designed for young people with disabilities.
Generous donors from across the industry helped make NBT’s silent auction at the FMA Annual Meeting a rousing success! Auction proceeds of over $29,000 will support NBT’s summer manufacturing camp and scholarship programs. The foundation offered 51 items and experiences up for bid such as autographed memorabilia, tech gadgets, golf experiences, and many more.
When I was in high school back in the early 2000s, 4-year college was frequently brought up by adults as the only viable option to get a well-paying, respectable job. If a student was considering community college, it was merely a stepping stone to pursuing a bachelor’s degree at a 4-year college.
Congratulations to the twenty-three students who will pursue their dreams of working in the manufacturing industry thanks to receiving a scholarship from Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs® (NBT) for the spring 2022 semester. NBT will distribute a total of $39,500 in scholarship awards, valued between $1,500 and $2,500 each, to help with students’ costs for tuition, books, and school fees.
Presented by AMADA AMERICA, Inc., the Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs Awards Gala, held on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021, at Manzo’s Banquets in Des Plaines, Illinois, was a memorable occasion for all in attendance. Friends and colleagues gathered in person for an evening of merriment and comradery to toast the award winners and hear firsthand the progress and impact NBT is making to build tomorrow’s skilled manufacturing workforce.
